We love being part of new community projects and the Destination Play project at Kāwaroa Park was an incredible project to make an impact on. This visionary play space needed functional amenities with a playful twist.

New Plymouth’s Kāwaroa Park is now home to an innovative play and learning space. Incorporating water play, climbing platforms and a pump track, this exciting development is a community space for all ages to enjoy and explore.
The park has a range of interactive experiences spread across 12 conceptually themed zones. Woven into the park design are the rich stories of the area, hapū and communities as well as New Plymouth’s culture, heritage, ecology. A key part of our external building design was to incorporate a pattern and texture on the external walls to complement the rocky coastline nearby, and provide a light filled covered area between the two distinct toilet and changing zones.
Internally, the new Public Toilets feature all the expected modern toilet facilities and a Changing Places accessible bathroom, perfect for family use and built to last. The functional changing rooms have seamless flow to the toilets and we incorporated a pump room into the structure to service the nearby splash pad.
