Replacing a decades old, dilapidated concrete block public toilet, complete with outdoor sinks, was an overdue project for the Manakau Domain’s local football and equestrian club members.
Horowhenua District Council
Manakau Domain, Manakau
Members of the Manakau United Football Club and the Horowhenua Adult Riding Club are delighted with their updated, modern public toilet facilities. Boasting two cubicles, families and those needing more accessible facilities now have a large cubicle complete with an Accessible Toilet, Baby Change table and hot water shower. The clubs can control who has access to the free hot water shower via a keyed lock box. Environmental considerations were also taken into account, with the building structure harvesting rain water off the roof to nearby water tanks.
The design also features a roof overhang to protect spectators from the elements and a concrete pad surround to mitigate the volume of mud being tracked into the public toilets.
Installation went smoothly and quickly thanks to good access to the site and the craning in of the pre-fabricated toilet block. Pre-fabricated toilet blocks save our clients time and money, while still being custom-designed to suit the needs of the site and community. Check out the old toilet block in the image below.
